Our first dragon piece!

Never imagined this day would come — dragons have always been one of those subjects I’ve shied away from, out of respect for my own beliefs. But with the right balance & context, this felt like the perfect opportunity to explore something new.

Highlighting the abstract wings for Fizzy’s first tattoo: “It’s the energy of the dragon!” she said🪽

So follow the lines. You will see how we take its organic textures forward with the new inks. We together bring this new vision to life, a new way to share his story. It’s also incredible to have Bart’s trust & commitment on this as his 1st tattoo!

For the last quarter of the year 2024, I’ve worked on many projects that require intentional details to connect with my client’s past tattoo collections.

These type of projects definitely can be challenging. As they often come in limited frameworks, of how much we can add while not overly occupying the spaces left.

What I learnt through these briefs are trusting every challenge, be brave to invest in the process. Every time it pushes a better version of myself, no matter if I know it or not.

This is a mixed composition combined with my flash design from ‘Emotion Archives’, and custom flow extension.

‘Emotion Archives’ is a flash series that documented fragments of emotion. Each frame is a silent visual form with open translations, for people who resonate with it.

The only problem with freehand is I always get too hyped with the real sketch on skin. So it often ends up with a bigger canvas (Oopsie!)

But we both agreed the jellyfish fits in nicer this way. Not too cluttered, not too spaced. She’s so open with lots of trust! Very happy with the final work.

How we recreate the space to not make tattoos look disjointed 🌿

We added the new lily pads (with a very long stem!). So it can grow around her small tattoos, she collected over the years.

The stem is now rooted from her past memories, also grow with them, up to the Now.
